Rediscover hope. Make a positive change!
Do I need a Counselor?
+ Are you suffering with depression and anxiety?
+ Do you need to overcome a traumatic life event?
+ Are the fights in your marriage discouraging and disruptive?
+ Are you troubled by racing thoughts and poor sleep?
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Doug cares about you and helping you get what you need to regain balance in your life. He understands the effectiveness of conventional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Christian values, therefore, he understands and uses the perfect blend of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and Christian Counseling.
Doug understands that "the quality of our lives depends on the choices we make." However, sometimes life becomes overwhelming and we forget how to make right choices. Doug's mission is to give you wise counsel to help you to make the right choices again.
What is Cognitive Behavioral Counseling?
Cognitive-Behavioral Counseling is founded on the belief that we can control what we think (cognition), and we can control what we do (behavior). It is much harder for us to control what we feel (emotions).
The difficulty associated with controlling our emotions is driven by the fact that our emotions are triggered by what our senses perceive and our fear of uncertainty. Most mental health problems are driven by external stressors that increase emotional sensitivity and reactivity.
